Anselm Keifer remains one of the most interesting artists working today. I go to see his work whenever I get the chance. The key to really knowing the paintings is to be aware of the intellectual depth of this artist and the thinking that goes into everything he touches. The best book on his early work and one of the best art/philosophy books I have ever read is Fire on the Earth by John Gilmour. This is a video of him talking about a couple of paintings at The White Cube Gallery in London.
