Off the Map

If you read this blog regularary, you will probably see a lot of film commentary. I am not much of a TV fan (don't like commercial interruptions) so I tend to subject my household to 2 or 3 movies each week. I had seen Off the Map when it first came out and loved it. I decided to look at it again because we are off to New Mexico next week and since the movie is set there it would give us a taste of the scenery to come. Also, because one of the actors (I had better not say who) had been looking at my work last week and had liked it a lot— so I suppose I liked that connection. The only thing I want to say about the movie is that each of the characters has a very specific role in the unfolding of this tale and each of them is necessary in their own way for magic to happen in the Land of Enchantment. In this sense it is a mythic tale.
